Agile/XP Immersion™ Overview Course

This 1-day course gives you first-hand practical experience with the Agile/XP development lifecycle. The course gives managers, programmers, testers, analysts and customers and opportunity to experience a day-in-the-life of an Agile developer. During the day, you will cycle through two development iterations. During that time, you will be exposed to most of the process, practices, tools and techniques that are associated with Agile development. The course is designed to bring abstract, and often misunderstood, concepts to life in a meaningful way.

Objectives

By the end of this course, you will have had the opportunity to:

• Participate in a planning meeting
• Accept new stories
• Identify development tasks
• Sign up for tasks
• Use pair programming
• Program stories using test-first design techniques
• Write and run automated acceptance tests
  

Prerequisites

• Familiar with software development and programming
• Familiar with Agile/XP concepts in the abstract
• Some Java programming experience
• Prior to the actual in-class session, students are required to download and complete a 1-hour preparation exercise.
